Careers in Health CareAre you interested in a career in Health Care? If so, one of our service cancelable loans may be a great option for you. The Georgia Student Finance Commission offers several service cancelable Health Care Programs, also referred to as "Scholarship Loans". Students can borrow funds to attend school for Dentistry, Nurse Anesthesia, Department of Human Resources employees for Nursing, Ladders to Nursing Careers, Graduate School awards for Nursing, Gerontology, Service Cancelable loans in health related careers, Registered Nurse programs, and numerous other health related fields. Service cancelable repayment requirements vary with each program listed. In the event that you do not complete your program of study or do not work in the field that you were awarded then your scholarship loan will convert to a cash repayment loan and accrue interest and must be repay in cash installments. Make sure to read the details of the program you are interested to ensure that you understand the requirements and your obligations. Allied Health ProfessionalsThe Allied Health Career Program provides service cancelable loans to students preparing for professions in which there is a personnel shortage in Georgia. This loan provides assistance toward the student's cost of education. Loan maximums may be limited annually to amounts that are less than the Federal Stafford loan program. Your loan amount will depend on your field of study and the appropriation of funds for this program. Click here to learn more about the Allied Health Professional Program. Northeast Georgia Health Systems Nurse ProgramThe Northeast Georgia Health System Service Cancelable Loan program addresses the critical shortage of Registered Nurses (RN), particularly in northeast Georgia. The program is sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc., a health-care provider headquartered in Gainesville, in partnership with North Georgia College & State University, Brenau University, Piedmont College, and the Augusta Campus of the Medical College of Georgia. Nursing Faculty ProgramThe program was developed by the Health Care Workforce Policy Advisory Committee and is funded by the Georgia Department of Labor and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation. The Georgia Student Finance Authority (GSFA) as part of GSFC manages this unique graduate education service cancelable loan program designed to encourage Georgians to enter and remain in the nursing education profession. The Georgia Nursing Faculty Scholarship Program offers financing in three core nursing education tracks: Baccalaureate to Master's, Master's to Doctorate, and Post Master's Nursing Education Certification. Intellectual Capital Partnership Program (ICAPP)The Intellectual Capital Partnership Program offers a service cancelable loan up to the maximum of $7,500 to help students in the field of nursing with their financial fees. This program is designed to attract recipients to high-demand jobs in the field of Nursing and then provide hospitals with the labor force they need. The recipients agree to repay the loan through working at an approved site in (12) months for each $2,500 received in Georgia.
