Entering College as a Joint Enrollment Student

Academically talented high school juniors and seniors may enhance their high school experience by enrolling in college courses. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has established the following minimum requirements for admission of joint enrollment students:

  • Current enrollment in a high school which is accredited by one of the following:

    • A regional accrediting association (such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools)
    • The Georgia Accrediting Commission
    • The Georgia Private School Accrediting Commission (GAPSAC)
    • Enrolled in a public school regulated by a school system and state department of education

  • On-track towards completing the University System of Georgia prescribed high school curriculum:

  • Minimum cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in courses taken from the prescribed high school curriculum.

  • Minimum Reasoning score of 970 (combined Critical Reading and Mathematics) or ACT Composite score of 20.

  • Some institutions may also have minimum freshman index requirements which must be met.

In addition, any student wishing to complete their high school CPC/RHSC requirements by enrolling in college courses must also meet the following admission requirements:

  • Students planning to complete their 4th year of high school English and/or social studies requirements with college credit must have an SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or higher or an ACT English score of 23 or higher.

  • Students planning to complete their 4th year of high school mathematics must have completed Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry and have a SAT Reasoning Mathematics score of at least 530 or ACT Mathematics score of at least 22.

  • Students can enroll in appropriate elective courses as approved by the high school counselor; however, students must have completed two units of the same foreign language to enroll in a college foreign language course and three units of science must be completed before enrolling in a college science course.
