Entering College as a Freshman

Those students who have not attended an accredited college or university following their high school graduation are considered freshmen. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has established freshmen admission requirements for each type of institution within the University System.

Institutions within the University System of Georgia recognize high school accreditation by regional accrediting associations such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or the Georgia Accrediting Commission, the Georgia Private School Accrediting Commission or from a public school regulated by a school system; however, the University System of Georgia allows for qualified graduates of unaccredited high schools and home schools to attend any of the institutions within the University System.
