Technical/Career Preparatory Curriculum (TCP) Requirements

The University System of Georgia requires students seeking admission to a State or Two-Year College who earn the TCP diploma to have completed the following courses with a 2.2 HSGPA.

The TCP Curriculum Carnegie Units* Requirements	In Specific Subject Areas
4 Carnegie Units in English	At least one-half unit of credit in American literature/composition. Grammar/composition shall be a component of all courses
3 Carnegie Units of mathematics	Must include a minimum of Algebra I or its equivalent. This requirement can be met by completing Algebra I, or Applied Problem Solving and Applied Algebra or two units of Concepts of Problem Solving and Concepts of Algebra
3 Carnegie Units of science	Any three units of science including one physical science, one life science or two units of applied biology/chemistry
3 Carnegie Units of social science	One unit of U.S. history; one unit of world studies (e.g. world history or world geography); one-third or one half unit of citizenship education (government); one-third or one half unit of Principles of Economic/Business/Free Enterprise. For the additional one-third unit students can select from political science/government or economics or international relations.

*Note: A Carnegie unit is a full academic year of credit.
