CAMPUS SUMMARY
North Georgia College & State University is a coeducational state university emphasizing strong liberal arts, as well as pre-professional, professional, and graduate programs. Serving as a liberal arts university, North Georgia is distinct in many ways. As the only four-year public institution in northeast Georgia, NGCSU offers a quality college experience in a beautiful mountain setting, about an hour north of Atlanta.

Specializing in leadership training and producing leaders since 1873, the university has been designated by the state as The Leadership Institution of Georgia.

For more than 130 years, North Georgia College & State University has been helping students discover remarkable things about themselves and the world. Our graduates gain a solid foundation on which to build their lives --not only a quality education, but cherished memories of great experiences, lifelong friends and good times.

The administration, faculty, and staff at North Georgia are dedicated to the education and traditional values which enable students to excel in whatever field they pursue. Classes are small and attention is personalized. Faculty, not graduate teaching assistants, do all of the teaching at NGCSU.

Located in Dahlonega, Georgia, a small historic town in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, the university offers more than 50 majors to prepare students for nearly any career. With more than 4,900 students, North Georgia College & State University is large enough to provide a wide array of opportunities and activities, but small enough to allow personal attention from professors and to foster friendships among students.

Nestled in the mountains, the gold-rush town of Dahlonega has kept its historic charm and spirit. In this town of fewer than 4,500, students easily walk to nearby restaurants, shops, banks and churches. The campus is safe, clean, and friendly, with the excitement and entertainment of metro Atlanta only a 90-minute drive away.

Surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest, North Georgia College & State University is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, with endless places for hiking, mountain climbing, hunting, fishing, bird-watching, whitewater rafting, canoeing and camping. This area of North Georgia draws many visitors who enjoy its lush forests, stunning waterfalls and abundant wildlife.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
North Georgia, one of six senior military colleges in the nation and only senior military college in Georgia, offers students the opportunity to participate in the Corps of Cadets, which is the university’s Army ROTC program. Students in the Corps of Cadets live a military lifestyle which affords them unique leadership opportunities and prepares them to assume leadership positions in the United States Army, state or local government, or in private businesses. Students who wish to participate in the Corps of Cadets are offered the opportunity to commission as officers into the United States Army. Military service after graduation is voluntary.
